Art work by Elena Kalis

I read an article on a series of photographs made my Elena Kalis.
Elena Kalis's work was inspired by the ocean and the water. One of her famous works is "Alice in Waterland". She uses her daughter as a model in her work. Her work is very colorful and fascinating. It is like a combination of the realistic and the fairy tale.

I love the color that she use in her photographs.

I think it is Ocean that make the pictures become more fancienating, and special.

Kalis used a lot of colorful tools in the picture, such as the fire bird, and the teapot. These tools highlight the theme of the picture, which symbolic the story "Alice in wonderland".

The model in the picture represents the real world, the little girl seems really innocent. On the contrary, the Ocean gives me the feeling of fairy and unrealistic. 

I like the idea of her photo. I think design is coming from our daily life. And what inspired us to design should also coming from our lives. It could be as easy as a pen or what we see in our normal like.

I think these photos are very interesting, because I like really fancy and colorful photographs. Plus I like the story of "Alice in wonderland".

About Design

I am a freshman in architecture major.
I was thinking about doing minor or just switch my major to Industrial design.
Since Design 200 is the pre-requisite course for Industrial design, I just want to take the course and see if i'm going to like it or not.
I consider myself as a creative person. I think that designer is a very cool job.
I saw some design works online, most of them are closely relate to our daily life. I think that a good design  makes people's life become more efficient and colorful.
Well, through Design 200, I want to get a general idea of what is design, what kind of work can be considered as a good design, and how can I form a designer mind.

Hi everyone, this is my first blog online, I'm pretty excited about it.
My name is YuMeng Chen. I come from Beijing, China.
This is my third year in the U.S.A. I went to high school in Boston, MA.
And I'm currently a student in Ohio State University.
I am really interested in art and music. I love watching movies and reading.

Most of my clothes are in white and black.
